Ahhh~ You know, I love acting. impromptu speaking otherwise known as ad lib, is so fun. Tongue twisters make me smile. And I don't even mind the voice exercises.
At our school we're performing Romeo and Juliet, how original, no? I was cast as Lady Capulet. Not bad, but not great. I would have liked to be Mercutio. Better than trying out and getting nothing, no?
Anyways, my tryout seemed odd, even to me. I was off, well, my meter was off.
I would have much preferred Hamlet, you know?

Congrats to both of you on your roles. I have been in R&J twice already and am auditioning again this January for year 3 of R&J! I have played both Gregory and Peter so far. I am waiting a few years before auditioning for the lead, Juliet. I have been in 28 shows so far in my lifetime and all of which I preformed for a large audience. Only 1 of which was a school show which I directed and wrote. Now, I have never heard of Blood Brothers, but congrats on the lead. I find it extraordinarily fun to play lead roles.
When I played Alice, a month or so ago, I had to learn 210 lines and I never left the stage. I basically memorised the entire show. I also played the lead in Charlotte's Web last year. I played Wilbur. It was a great first lead role for me, but Alice was the role of my dreams. And as it so happened, my White Rabbit was the boy of my dreams!
Lady Cap. is a good role. (I normally would call her L.C., but chances are nobody would understand what I meant by it.) She has feeling and strong emotion behind her. Now, I have been in R&J twice, seen it 2 times on stage, and have watched every R&J movie that exists. Heck, I have a freakin' crush on Shakespeare! Call me a nerd or geek or whatever, I don't care! I have been acting since age 5, gone to shows since I was 6 months old, and I have performed at 3 theatres. I have also been in commercials, on the radio, and I was on the news.
Now, out of uncontrolling curiosity, were the people who played Romeo, Juliet, the Nurse, Mercutio, and Benvolio any good? Did you do the entire show, or did you cut parts? Who all recited the Prologue? Did you have a narrator do it, or the Prince do it, or the entire company do it? Such things interest me. Did you do the show contemporary or in Rennaisance clothing? How long did you have to rehearse and how many shows did you put on? I know I ask a lot of questions, but, I, as a veteran of the show, would love to hear all of the details!
Now, as for ad lib and improv, it's great stuff! My friends who don't normally do acting stuff enjoy it... I am not a huge ad lib fan, but I will use it if it saves my butt during a show. I get paid a certain stipend every year for the work I do and the shows I get cast in. Every show for me is about meeting new people, reuniting with old friends, and learning something new. That is my goal for every show I am in. Imagine how many friends I have made after almost 30 shows. I should hit 30 this January. I am auditioning for 2 shows at the end of this month and praying I will at least get into one.
Now, I know that neither of you would want to entire a career as an actress or actor after you graduate, but then again, neither do I. I have merely devoted my life to the theatre for the time being. Every show I am in acts as my job and my duty. I respect that and the director, who is like my boss. Normally, I click with the other actors and we all become friends. Such was the case with Alice. I would totally advise all of you to at least be a part of 5 shows before quitting the idea. It is a great experience. Don't miss it.
Now, after I have written you this terribly looonnnggg post response, I will stop my preaching and let all of you move on with your lives. I was just terribly bored and you never want to get me started about theatre, acting, or Shakespeare for that matter. I write a lot if it pertains to any of those wonderful subjects. Here I go again... *stops herself* No. I promised not to continue. Have a great day and keep acting! MJ~

Romeo, Was okay, he didn't speak very loudly I was afraid that the people sitting in the back wouldn't hear him, but we got hidden microphones so that wasn't a problem. :3
Juliet, was fine, I don't like the girl who played her, but she can act.
the Nurse, was okay..I guess...not really.
Mercutio, (the part I wanted) Was actually great. I was like "wow"
Benvolio was okay as well, I don't think he really wanted his part.
Tybalt was great, like, awesome great. :33
We did the entire play, with a ten-minute intermission, which was a good thing because, a few people forgot what they had to say next. The prologue was read by the prince who was in the spotlight, while the two houses stood behind him. We went with the Rennaisance clothing, and rehearsed before school stared and after school every day for...what seemed like forever, mostly becaues Romeo was being too quiet and Paris actually hated Juliet. It was actually pretty funny to watch.
I still would have preferred Hamlet, though...

I was Tybalt, and I wasn't great, you're insane. Juliet was a good actress.. :\ bluh, Romeo could hardly READ it wasn't a matter of speaking. The whole Paris and Juliet thing was very funny, though. :3 ahh if I only had a camera...Not quite understanding the whole intermission thing. Shouldn't the actors know their parts prior to the actual performance? whatever. I think we're doing 6 shows? maybe more? I dunno I lost my schedule. a-hurrhurr.
