He jumped at Nikita's nagging howl, looking to the dog briefly. His eyes darting to Ana as she held out a hand for him, he leaned back further away from it, but nonetheless slowly pushed himself to his feet. Although he stood to follow, he didn't look steady enough to do so. His eyes kept glancing down both ways of the alley, extremely wary of being seen by anyone else. Despite his wings folding so tightly behind him, they were too large to be hidden at all behind his small form.

His behavior was funny to her, but she did her best not to laugh. That really would not have been polite. Ana headed down to the end of the alleyway with Nikita at her heels and leaned forward. She looked to the left, then the right, checking every spot between the two directions. There still did not seem to be any other people wandering about this early. Ana turned back to look at Stefan and waved him over. "Come on. Nobody's out here yet." She was well aware that he was still unsteady, but he did not seem to be happy with the idea of being helped.

He watched her, then leaned forward in the beginning of taking off - but only stumbled forward, catching himself on some crates, wings flailing for balance. He wasn't weightless.. What was wrong with him? He frowned, eyes worried and fearful. His gaze lifted to Ana up ahead, waving the all-clear. Still frowning, he slowly stepped away from the crates and stood, swaying for a moment before walking somewhat unsteadily towards her. He wanted to keep his wings folded, but while walking they had to be partially out for balance right now. He hadn't noticed yet, but they were more realistically designed now, not as ruffly and showy as before, more resembling a typical bird's wings made for flight.

A look of disbelief passed across her face, and was almost mirrored by the look on Nikita's. It was like he had never walked before. "Jeez, man, have you been walking long?" Ana shook her head with a sigh and stepped out onto the main sidewalk. She decided that she would have to move slowly in order for him to keep up without getting hurt. "I live two blocks from here. Can you make it?" Nikita had taken off already, leaving the other two to eat her dust. She knew where home was, and didn't need to wait around to get there.

His gaze drifted to the pavement at her question. He made it to a few feet from her, then leaning against the wall. He nodded, then dragging himself to the end of the alleyway and peering out both ways with frightened, timid golden eyes. Slowly he stepped out, following Ana as hastily as he could, wings occasionally spreading to keep him from falling one way too far.

"Don't overdo it.." She headed down the sidewalk, her boots clinking with every step. The sound did not even seem to reach her ears any more, but other people might have found it annoying had they been around. Every few steps or so she would glance over to make sure he was doing alright, as well as to make sure there were no people around staring. What should have taken two minutes took about seven. They finally came up to the door of an apartment building where Nikita sat, waiting anxiously. Ana shushed the big fluffball before she could howl again and unlocked the front door for Stefan to go through. "Here we are.."

He followed her, glancing around all the while, until they got to the door. He stared at her warily for a minute, then cautiously entered, folding his wings momentarily so as to get through the doorway. Stumbling in, he looked around quickly like an animal thrown into a new enclosure. His eyes searched for something to lean on or sit in.

The interior of the apartment was very simple, all colors nuetral. There was a couch sitting next to a little coffee table with two pads of paper, a few scattered pens, and an unfinished book sitting on it. Nikita rushed through the door, practically tackling what looked like a chew toy that had been left on the floor. She scooped it up in her mouth and trotted over to a pillow on the floor and plopped down to chew. Ana stepped inside and shut the door, leaving it unlocked. She brushed dust away from her coat and looked up to see what the other two were doing. So far so good. Her attention turned to a blinking light on the phone and Ana sighed, heading over to put the phone back on the charger. She had a terrible habit of letting the battery run dry.
