The boy glanced at Ana briefly, then stumbled to the couch and sat on it tiredly. The black wings behind him shifted to make themselves comfortable. Although no longer dazed, he looked weary. Pale fingers combed through dark hair as he rubbed his head, trying to organize his mind enough to mull over what happened, but no explanation came to him yet. Too many questions still darted about in his head, bouncing about in his skull like a ping pong ball, unfocused, uncoordinated. At the same time he tried to put some degree of focus on his present environment, not wanting to space out in the presence of a human he didn't yet trust.

She had many questions of her own, but years of being told that bombarding strangers with curiosity was rude kept her quiet. Ana walked over to the little table by the couch and picked up the book before taking a seat on the floor next to Nikita. It was bound in green leather, but the book bore no title, or sign of an author's name. She reached towards the bookmark and flipped open to the next blank page. All of the pages past her halfway mark were empty, waiting to be drawn on. Ana glanced up at a vase on the kitchen counter and began sketching out the contours with a pencil from the table. "Do you have a name?"

He watched her warily, studying her movements, leaning back slightly as she neared to pick up her book. Asking his name, he decided there was no harm in telling her. He stood from the couch, but decided against walking, leaning down and then crawling to her. He looked silly, but he might've looked sillier walking. He carefully took the pencil from her hand, writing his name on the top of the paper clumsily, handwriting large and scribbly like an angry 3rd grader's. 'STEFAN'. He watched her with fearful eyes, as if scared of her judgement on his handwriting.

Ana blinked twice as he leaned down to crawl. She had considered leaning over to hand the book and pencil to him, but by the time she thought about it he was already there. Her attention turned back to the paper, and the scribbled name on top. "Stefan?" The girl smiled, nodding. "That's a nice name." The handwriting quality had not even seemed to catch her attention. Quite frankly, hers was no better despite her ability to draw. Some little fluke her friends enjoyed making fun of at every opportunity. "It's nice to meet you."

His golden eyes stared at her, frowning, expectant. Getting to his feet, wings flailing to balance him, he leaned against the wall to return to the couch. On his way he noticed a black feather on the floor, and he stopped, staring down at it. His brow furrowed, mind struggling to grasp where it had come from.

Nikita looked up and sniffed, but found the feather uninteresting. ana looked up from the sketchbook one more time to see why Stefan was standing still. "Oh..you lost a feather." the girl slid the bookmark back into place and stood up, leaving her book on the floor. She stepped over, looking at the feather, and then up at Stefan. "You okay..?"

His frown deepened, and as he turned to glance back at her he extended a wing slightly to see it. He looked like he was having a heart attack. He stumbled back, leaning back against the wall, staring with wide-eyed horror at his black wing. His chest heaved in and out rapidly with hyperventilated breathing. He slid down to sit, still staring at the wing held out before him, eyes scanning over its rational feather structure, its coal black color. He didn't seem to hear her.

Ana jumped a bit herself, completely taken aback by his reaction. She knew absolutely zip about angels, so the fact that his wings were black had meant nothing to her. Nikita barked, trotting over to Stefan. The fluffball of a dog sniffed at his wing before howling, ears perked expectantly. "Er..Nikita..watch him." The girl lightly shook her head and headed to the kitchen counter. She flipped open a laptop there and decided that it might be a good idea to figure out what black wings meant, exactly, since it seemed to be something bad.
