A quiet, lonely figure sat, silhouetted on the roof of an abandoned building. The small red glow of a single cigarette sat loose in its hand, he simply watched the ash slowly gather and float off, only adding to the city smog.
He didn't smoke, but he liked the smell.
Adrian looked out at the cityscape, the grey sky stained black by smog, and littered with yellow streetlights. This wasn't alien to him, he knew cities, big and small. This was where he was most comfortable, from busy city streets, to construction sites. He was simply poking around downtown, not looking for anything in particular. Memorizing the streets, and alleyways. Learning the names of bars and clubs he'll never visit. He flicked the cigarette away and stood, brushing himself off. He was only twelve, for now. He swung down the fire escape at the side of the building landing lightly on the sidewalk. He started walking, hands in pockets. Not going anywhere in particular...

*Akina was mildly shocked as the figure landed beside her on the sidewalk, and it must have clearly shown on her face. On this particuliar evening, the feline had chosen just to look around, to explore. It wasn't something she did often; the forest was a far more preferable place to her than the odorous, crowded city.*
*As immediately as she was able, she pushed the look of surprise away, a more angry and serious expression overtaking her instead. A low growl built up in the back of her throat, and she worked quite hard to repress it. However, she was unable to stop the tone of irration in her voice as she spoke to the boy, one eyebrow raising whilst the other lowered in a look that was pure cynicism.* Watch your landing, kid.
*The frowning shape-shifter looked quite child-like herself, despite her age of 17. At four foot eight, her bad attitude and breast size was roughly all that could indicate her years to be beyond 10 or so.* What are you doing out here, anyway?

A little boy, six years of age, sat in a dark alleyway of Domino City, hugging knees that were pulled up to his chest. Despite his youth, his hair was, strangely, white; almost shoulder-length, straight, and messy. His skin was pale. His golden yellow eyes peered up into the night sky, most of the stars hidden in the light pollution. He wore simply grey jeans with ragged holes in the knees and a plain, navy T-shirt, his feet in black Converse high-tops. Between his knees and chest was squished a black jackal plushie resembling the Egyptian god Anubis. The boy hummed a haunting, melodic Egyptian lullaby to himself quietly.
An abnormally large crow stood near him, near enough to be a pet, it would seem, it's black eyes glistening a strange midnight blue in both the dim city lights and the pale moonlight. It didn't stand pridefully like most crows, slouching more like a vulture, its dark plumes scruffy and rather haggard. Despite its horrible posture, its head tilted about, observing the environment attentively.

"hm?"
Adrian turned, his shoulder-length black hair bounced lightly as he did so. His head was swimming, the smell of smoke still stuck in his nose. He tilted his head, seemingly out of it. Dark, half lidded eyes studied her for a second.
"Nothing." His tone was very bland, almost sleepy. "You know, I was taught not to talk to strangers..."
Without even waiting for a reply, he turned around and started walking again. Pulling a silver coin from his pocket, he walked it back and fourth across his hand, tossing it up and catching it, over and over. It didn't really matter why the girl cared about what he was up to, this was the city, she could be some sort of psycho rapist, after all.
