Of Kings and Queens and tiny little Things

Nancy giggled as the paw touched her hand. She shook it softly, before releasing it. "Hello Talou. I am Nancy. And up there is my friend, Tier." Nancy smiled, motioning for Tier to come down from the tree limb he was sitting on. He looked even smaller from a distance, but figured it was a priviledge for him to be so tall.

Then turning back to Talou, Nancy said, "Yes. I said someone might try to hurt me. I am on a mission to find my aunt who went missing with a very valuable item. I do not know who it is, but I was too close to death when Tier's friend found me. I believe her name was Ree, I think. So, they are dangerous and probably trying to stop me from finding my aunt. Do you know of anyone who would be trying to hurt me?" She glanced over at Tier. "Us?" She nearly blushed. How could she think they were an us now. They had only met the other day, but she was fond of him already. He was just so remarkable!

Talou tilted his head slightly in thought, there WERE more people coming throught the woods than usual. Normally he would think nothing of it, it wasn't any of his business, but then it may be worth saying for now. "Lately there've been more people-folk coming through the woods, I'm not sure where they're going when they do come around, but I know they aren't out here just to hunt rabbits. I haven't looked into it, but I think you might've wanted to know...I think there are about eight different people, do you have enough weapons to take them all on?"

Nancy listened in terror. 8 people! Oh god! Nancy thought, frightened. She glanced over at Tier once more. Why? Why 8! She did not believe that Tier and she were ready to fight. "We only have the few I packed along with other helpful powers. Thank you though. Would you care to accompany us on our journey. It will be dangerous, but if I complete this correctly, it should only take finding my aunt and she will do the rest!" Nancy hoped that she would be able to persuade the different looking fox onto their team. He seemed cunning enough. Maybe good enough to win back the posession. She smiled slightly at Talou, with a quick wink at Tier as she awaited his answer.

"I would be honoured to help." Talou bowed low, then stood up straight. "Right now I'm completely unarmed, we'll need to make a stop at my brother's den. There you can stock up whatever more you need, I can get ready, and then we can all go along and find your auntie." The fox walked off at a brisk pace, making a wide circle, carefully taking in every scent he could, standing very still, listening, then walked back. "It's not that far off from here, and I don't think we'll run into anything along the way, keep sharp, though. My nose isn't exactly the sharpest."

Nancy grinned, curtsying. She glanced back at Tier as if to say, Well, are you coming with me? Do you trust me and Talou? She smiled and said, "Of course. Thank you so very much Talou. Are you sure your dear brother won't mind? What materials does he have with him?" Nancy followed the fox around. "We will be keen. Thank you for your help and kindness. If we can find my aunt, then I won't die at the meeting conference in Salibeth next month." Nancy smiled. What she had said was true. If she came back empty handed, they would kill her on the spot. It was cruel and harsh there. She felt more at home down on earth, safe from them.

[Tier]

::Tier snapped his fingers, as if to wake himself up.::

"Well now....as silent as I was up here, you'd think my mind has been somewhere else and missed all the action. "

Tier smiled at Nancy but hid the fear of Talou back behind his hazel eyes. He felt the daggers around his side, as if re-assuring himself that he was safe. "Of course I'll accompany you Nancy! I swore an Oath to you and keep it I shall!" The small Sprite looked down and positioned himself carefully before jumping out of the tree and landing on Nancys shoulder with a slight thud. Tier let a small "Oof!" as he landed, muttering Sorry under his breath as he grabbed his ribs.

The little fox hesitated "My brother...won't mind at all." The truth was, the den might as well have belonged to Talou, his brother had passed many years back. As a sign of respect, Talou hardly stepped foot around it, except to pay respects, and to hide valubles in. Talou watched Tier with great interest, eyes sparkling, such a small people-folk! he thought. "Well, we have no time to waste, here." Talou stated quickly, he made a short leap, then trotted quickly through brush and weaved through trees. His pace was very fast, but he stopped occasionally to look back, being careful not to lose his party. The longer they took walking to the den, the more likely they'd run into something unpleasant. The den was protected, they'd be safe for as long as they were there.

Nancy giggled as Tier landed lightly on her shoulders. "You okay?" Nancy helped him back up and decided to follow Talou. "Here goes nothing!" As Talou took off, Nancy sped quickly behind with Tier still on her shoulder. She had to be careful that he didn't fall off. They were able to keep Talou in eyesight the entire time. It was quite a distance the trio was traveling, but Nancy knew that if she got tired, she had what she needed to protect her and Tier both. As for Talou, she could not place such runes on animals, but knew other spells to keep him safe.
