Théâtre des Vampires

[Egyptian Myth]

( This is not totally my idea. It's got mixed inspirations from a roleplay in another forum, and some Panic! At The Disco songs. :3 )

On a corner in Ravenwing City - before the vampire invasion(see roleplay "More Than This") - sits a gothic, though well-kept theatre rumored to have been there since the city was built. Although dark in appearance, it's got a classy air to it and is strangely inviting. This is Théâtre des Vampires. As you can imagine very few in the city believe in vampires, so many attend despite the old-style, semi-gothic decor and the odd name, because as said it's strangely inviting and plays many a good drama.
However, for those who know of the existence of vampires and for the vampires themselves, it is true that the playwrite and the actors and actresses are all vampires. Many vampires come simply to watch as well, either as a way to be more civilized and prove they can be peaceful with humans - even if the humans don't know it - or, for those who are so old, to get back to their roots with the overcoats, canes, and top hats that are such common attire here.


A pale youth appearing around the age of eighteen shuffled into the threatre with the crowd. A play was to begin in a half hour and a little less than half the seats were taken now. He wore a black suit and pants with a red tie, with shoes black and perfectly shined. His figure was slender, almost feminine, with only faint hints of natural male muscle. About shoulder-length, wavy, black-brown hair continued down out from a black, red-rimmed top hat adorning his head. Short, considerably attractive facial hair lined his chin. The bangs of his hair concealed his eyes, while the rim of his top hat cast shadows down his pale face in the threatre lighting. The slightest hint of a smile played across his lips, strangely chilling to those who looked upon it, as if the young man's whole life was about finding amusement in people. Despite the madness that mere little smile suggested, he was noticably beautiful, his movements elegant and graceful.
He quietly took a seat near the front. Although his eyes were hidden, it could be assumed his gaze stared ahead onto the curtained stage - his stare was so intense, terrifying almost, that it could be easily felt when your blood ran cold and your muscles tensed if it were upon you. But for now he seemed generally invisible, unnoticed by most of those coming in, not noticably different than anyone else.

A short, thin girl walked into the theatre, a lacy parasol tucked neatly under one arm. Her gait was careful and sure, steps, short and quick. She glided effortlessly through pockets of people, moving closer to the stage, preferring a seat near the orchestra pit. There wasn't much to her, but she had a simple beauty. Her eyes were dark, but bright and alert. Her hair was black and straight with white ribbons tied neatly on both sides of her head. Her skin was smooth and milky white, yellowed by the theatre lights. She stopped in the middle of the aisle, seeing that her normal seat was taken, then sighing softly she looked back. There wasn't anywhere in particular she wanted to sit, now. She tossed a dirty look at the back of the head that belonged to the seat theif. She hesitated, finger to chin, not quite sure what to do with herself, then she spotted in the corner of her eye, the strange young man sitting alone, staring at the empty stage. Her stomach flipped as she turned her head to get a better look, the entire row was empty, except for him. His gaze focused and scathing. He didn't look lonely, more insane than anything, but it made her sad to see the row empty. She sat quietly three seats away, and carefully sat her umbrella between herself and the young man, not to keep him from moving closer, to keep him from moving too close too quickly.

The young man's advanced olfactory filtered through the various scents shuffling in and finding seats; taking in their clothes, where they'd been, what they'd eaten, whatever sort of blood was in their veins.. and in some cases, how attractive they were. With such a sense, he had no need to watch them flow down the aisle. One scent made his head turn in just the slightest movement, yet he was careful to keep his gaze from too much intensity; there had been tension between vampires with different views of how they should live their existences lately, and he had no desire to start anything. At least not now.

His hidden eyes took in the sight of an ivory-skinned girl, the lighting making her form similar to that of someone in an old film, which he found to be of a certain degree of beauty. The delicate parasol she held helped to further intrigue him. How lovely he and her would look striding down the street arm and arm... Ah, but he was getting ahead of himself. The faint smile hovering on his lips sweetened to a more sincere note, but it remained subtle and to most humans it was likely to go unnoticed. As he returned his gaze to the stage, he kept the girl in the corner of his eye, as his odor-perceiving senses focused a little more to determine as much as he could from her.

The girl could feel the stranger watching, though he was very subtle about it. She remained blank and emotionless, neither beckoning him to move closer, nor telling him to go away. She carefully smoothed her black dress, the soft material ruffling quietly. The dress itself was pretty, white lace and ribbons ran up in arches meeting at a point, that point decorated with a lacy white bow. The waist was drawn up and bunched, also secured with a white bow, revealing a small, petite figure. The sleeves were three-fourths length, white ribbons tied neatly around her elbow, leading down to slender forearms, a silver bracelet with a glass snowflake residing at her wrist. A small sigh escaped her lips, the same milky white, uniform with her skin. She looked up at the entrance, even though she already knew who was there. Nobody she cared about. She turned her attention toward the young man. Why not? She looked him over, taking her time. Not like it matters. She had no real sweetheart of her own, and wasn't really looking for one, but this young man... He was exceptionally pretty. She picked up her umbrella and set it on her opposite side. It was an invitation, one that could have been easily turned down. She wanted to see if there was a brain behind that pretty face, or if it was just another pretty rock. She gave a small smile, wondering if he'd pick up the hint.

Mild indifference. Cute. He heard the smoothing of her dress. His nose picked up her breath as it was released into the air by her quiet sigh. His gaze drifted away as he felt her eyes on him. He too kept up only subtle interest. He heard her gently-folded parasol move. He glanced away from her briefly, feigning equal indifference, and then was suddenly in the seat beside her, without a sound nor movement nor mere stir of the air. In such a gesture it seemed he wasn't the type to care too much about who saw him do that sort of thing... Most vampires that came here disliked such a quality as carelessness.
"Good evening." His smile was again more than subtle, yet had that hint of amusement still in it. His voice was quiet, kindly soft for the theatre atmosphere, flowing through the ears like silk.. not particularly deep, not at all unmanly high. He spoke casually as if he had been in this seat from the beginning. His skin was pale, but so smooth and perfect in the lighting, the bones beneath his skin handsomely designing his face.

The girl smiled, she thought it would take a little more coaxing to get him closer but, he came like a little puppy. Which was, quite odd, actually. She tilted her head away from him, smile faded, and watched him carefully from beneath her eyelashes. Her eyes were animated, shimmering several hues of browns and almost yellow, but maintaining an overall dark color.
"How do you do?" Her voice was frail and bell-like, a slight accent elongating her vowels. She rested her arm against her chest, hand resting on her collarbone, and she studied the youth's face. A very pretty face it was. She couldn't help but smile again but, she began to think; How plain I am, I'm must be simple and ugly to him. She looked back toward the stage, face blank. Her fingers restlessly tracing lines over her palms, and fiddling with the little snowflake at her wrist. Her gaze stayed focused on the stage, mock interest played over her features, as if there was something going on. Such a pretty face would not want to be seen with such a common one, how foolish of me.

His smile remained, if not broadened at her shyness. "Very well, thank you. And yourself?" Truly, the girl had no reason to worry. He found such simplicity appealing.. rarely could it be found in his kind. To sincerely seem so fragile, young, naive. He no longer found beauty in himself, and seldom did he find it in other vampires. His white-gloved hand gently touched hers, somehow drawing it away from the glass snowflake yet without even the slightest of his fingers' grip. "If you poke that too much it will get fingerprints all over it, and it won't glisten the same way anymore." He said tentatively.
The lights dimmed, signalling the show was soon to begin. The dark red, velvet curtain was drawn, as actors and actresses began the play. His interest was still on the girl beside him, however.

"I'm fine, too." Her voice was quieter than before, and even more brittle, the tone melancholy. She looked back at him through half-lidded eyes, staring through him, rather than actually at him. A small frown played at her lips as she reluctantly let go of her snowflake, "You're right" She turned her hand over, palm up, and held his hand, carefully feeling his glove with her fingertips. She wanted to keep her hands busy, or rather, she needed to keep them busy. As the lights dimmed, she glanced at the stage scanning for a face, and not fiding it, returned her attention to the young man. She gazed at him with simple admiration, being careful that her eyes never met his. Her eyes traced his jawline and neck, moving down to his shoulders. Her attention became focused on the suit he wore, a plain, black suit. He filled it in well. She eyes were drawn down to his shoes that shone bright, without a single scuff or dirty spot. "so," She began soflty, looking back up at his face. "...do you enjoy the performing arts?"
